Dear Parents,
Hilton Head Prep has a policy of following the emergency weather response of the Beaufort County School System. The following weather alert was just posted:
6 p.m. Wednesday
Beaufort County emergency preparedness officials are monitoring Tropical Storm Hermine, which has the potential to bring heavy rains and high winds to the Lowcountry later this week. District schools will operate on their normal schedules Thursday, but all athletic practices and games on Thursday have been cancelled. Decisions on any weather-related cancellations or delays of classes and athletic events on Friday will be made no later than 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
To clarify what will be happening at Hilton Head Prep over the next few days:
-HHP will not be holding any after school activities (except Prep Plus) or athletic practices today Thursday, September 1.
-Parents Night and the dining commons donor recognition scheduled for tonight, Thursday, September 1, will be rescheduled for Monday, September 12.
-Decisions with regard to class and after school events for tomorrow, Friday, September 2, will be announced this afternoon.
We are truly sorry for the inconvenience of a last minute change but we feel these precautions are in the best interest of our students and families.
This situation serves as a good reminder for all Prep parents to register for the HHP text-based emergency notification system. Parents are required to "opt-in" via text message in order to be included. Please text "Prep" to 843-352-8390 to join and receive any emergency notifications.
Thank you for your patience and support,
Jon Hopman
