Dear Prep Families,

In the wake of Hurricane Matthew, I truly hope everyone is safe and without injury. During times such as these I have complete confidence that the Prep community will come together to support those in need.

The pictures and videos on social media are showing a lot of devastation to Hilton Head Island and the surrounding communities. I'm sure many of you have seen pictures of our campus with significant standing water over our fields and the Sea Pines parking lot. We are hopeful that water did not make it into our buildings and that we did not suffer any wind or tree damage.

Access back onto Hilton Head Island has not been officially determined. We recognize that our school community is anxious to return to take care of your own homes. The influx of people returning over a period of several days, combined with our need to simply recover from the storm, means that I do not expect for Hilton Head Prep to reopen for classes until Monday, October 17th at the earliest.

We will communicate any changes after a further assessment of our campus.

Provided our facilities are operational, we will also communicate whether or not we will be able to accommodate any displaced families, in addition to facilitating support services for the greater community.

Please watch our Facebook page for updates. I have complete faith we will endure and the recovery process will pull us together in a way that demonstrates the strength of our Prep community as we support and serve one another and those around us.

We will get through this together.

Sincerely,

Jon Hopman, Headmaster
